We are very proud to share with you our fabulous news that we have achieved the highest accolade of Gold standard under the Kirklees Healthy Choice Award. This award recognises the high standards of food hygiene and healthy options on our menus. The assessment included a thorough review of our menus. We were awarded the Gold standard based on the high percentage of homemade food, the balanced and varied options including a good quantity of foods from each of the main food groups for under 5’s. The four main food groups are:
- bread, other cereals and potatoes
- fruit and vegetables
- milk and dairy foods and
- meat, fish and alternatives such as eggs, peas, beans and soya
Every child has the right to good food, and this is part of our vision for the high quality childcare we provide at Birkenshaw Kindergarten.
